Remote Senior System Administrator
Roles & Responsibilities
Collaborate with networking, system, data security, and service desk teams to assess and implement new solutions for improving support tools and security practices.
Ensure uninterrupted operation and optimal performance of on-prem virtual infrastructure using VMware vCenter and Veeam for ten businesses.
Develop solutions to reduce reactive work and enhance proactive system management.
Work closely with the Security team to identify root causes of security issues, implement patches, and remediate vulnerabilities.
Negotiate pricing with vendors when purchasing new tools and technologies.
Create project-level architecture and IT system concepts.
Provide guidance on performance monitoring tools to application owners and assist in addressing system alerts.
Collaborate with stakeholders to address infrastructure-related issues faced by their teams.
Plan and implement cost-saving measures associated with the infrastructure.
Present recommendations and solutions to the leadership team.
Manage core Systems infrastructure using VMware vCenter and vSAN.
Possess strong knowledge of Windows desktop and server operating systems, Microsoft Active Directory, LDAP, DHCP, and DNS.
Build new VMs per user request, providing best spec recommendations.
Decommission unused VMs on a regular basis.
Perform routine maintenance on hardware and infrastructure tools.
Experience in Linux OS and PowerShell scripts is an asset.

Degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent
High proficiency in English
5+ years of experience in a System Administrator/Engineer role.
VMware Data Center VCP (VMware Certified Professional) certificate or above.
Rotating after-hours support for urgent infrastructure outages/issues
